The 22nd Annual Read Alabama series begins Jan. 27 at the Jasper Campus of Bevill State Community College. The program is a partnership between Bevill State, Alabama Power Company, the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County, NewSouth Books, the Walker County Arts Alliance and the Walker College Foundation.
Read Alabama celebrates Alabama writers by showcasing authors’ published works and allowing attendees to hear from those authors as they discuss their own books. This year’s schedule is:

Faye Gibbons discussing her book Halley
Frye Gaillard discussing his book The Books that Mattered: A Reader's Memoir
Aileen Henderson discussing her book Eugene Allen Smith's Alabama: How a Geologist Shaped a State
Each program begins at 3:30 with refreshments being served and the actual program begins at 4 p.m. Book sales and signings will be available after the program.
Admission is free and open to the public. All programs, with the exception of Walsh’s program, will be held in the Mathews Lecture Hall in the Harold Wade Math and Science Building. Walsh’s program will be held on the second floor of the Nicolson Library.
